Make Up Procedures

Each performance is a demonstration of musical skills by the students. Since choir is a class, and performances are a part of the learning process as well as graded public demonstrations of skills learned, attendance and participation at each performance is expected, required, and graded.

Make-up assignments should be done outside of a student’s choir class periods.

Students are expected to attend regular rehearsals during school. If a student misses 50% of school rehearsals, they will not be allowed to perform at the concert. They will need to follow the makeup procedures outlined below.

Rehearsal Attendance

Concert Performance

If a student misses a concert performance for any reason, they will perform the music from the missed performance for the choir director and a group of at least five other students of the performing student's choosing in order to demonstrate the skills that would be demonstrated at the live performance. If multiple students in the same choir are missing from the performance, they may perform as a small ensemble. Music must be performed as if it were at the concert. Students/parents should notify the director before missing a performance and should schedule a make-up performance time with the choir director as soon as they return to school after the missed performance. The district policy for students turning in make up work after an absence is 2 days for each day absent.
